In a surprising partnership that breaks conventional expectations, Ubisoft has announced an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, including no-cost extra story content for Shadows players.

Strange Questline Revealed

According to the authorized release, "A mysterious confrontation pulls characters Naoe and Yasuke into a new adventure, where whispers of prohibited practices and terrifying transformations resonate through the shadows." The storyline presents a "unusually dressed woman named Ada" who assigns the characters with traveling into the Gemstone Grotto—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her ally from a hidden group.

The questline focuses on "peculiar tests and a fearsome enemy" and is available to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.

Iconic Locations and Metamorphoses

The teaser features the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was formerly where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The trailer concludes with a striking scene showing a character, probably the hostage, morphing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Special Rewards and Extra Features

Players who successfully complete the mission will obtain an unique katana together with numerous artifacts secreted throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also contains in-store Attack on Titan item packs, including:

• Titan-based outfit for Yasuke
• Mikasa attire for Naoe
• Special arms
• Survey Corps vehicle

Newest Free Story Content

This update also introduces the game's latest no-cost story addition, titled "The Enigma." This playful adventure partners Naoe and Yasuke as they swap signature abilities: Naoe introduces a performative interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires subduing stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Mystery" also includes a fresh environmental puzzle that may eventually explain some lingering questions from the main storyline.

Earlier Japanese Animation Crossovers

This marks scarcely the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with popular anime franchises. The series formerly featured a 2020 cross-promotional story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla unofficially included a quest that obviously echoed the famous series One-Punch Man.
